Interview with HellBound Game Developer, Saibot Studios

In case you have no clue what HellBound is, it’s a new highly anticipated FPS game geared towards the classic 90’s style shoot’em ups. We reached out to Saibot Studios, the developers of HellBound to get a little more info on the game and what we can expect. So, if you are a DOOM, Quake & Duke Nukem fan, then you may want to keep a close eye on the HellBound game.

1. Tell us about your studio.

We’re Saibot Studios, a small independent team from Buenos Aires, Argentina. We started working as a team in early 2012, after I left NGD Studios, the main development company here in Argentina. Our goal is to create the games we love and to share them to the community of gamers globally, focused in hardcore gaming.

The Doorways saga was our first project, it was a horror type of game with darkness, creatures and puzzles. The last title was published by us on 2016 and it was called “Doorways: Holy Mountains of Flesh”: http://store.steampowered.com/app/383930/

2. Tell us briefly about Hellbound, what inspired your team to create it?

Hellbound is a 90’s style FPS, with the focus in action, speed and gore, like the good old days. I personally played games like DOOM, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, Heretic, Hexen, Blood and many others in the 90’s, and I love them. Few games of today have the feeling of those classics, where the story was something not to worry about and where there was not interruptions at all, just pure gameplay.

Actually, and here’s something not everybody know, during high-school I made a 2D version of DOOM called DooM-PlatforM, using the assets from the original games (DOOM and DOOM II / Final DOOM): http://doomplatform.com.ar/

I published this old game in 2006 using the tools DIV 2 and Fenix, so in case you guys want to try that thing out, you need DOS Box to run it.

So Hellbound is the game I personally wanted to do all my life. The thing is that only today I can afford this kind of project with all the experience we got in development and the resources we got from the other games we created.

3. Why should Doom/Quake fans be excited?

Because Hellbound is being made by one (or more) of them. We know and love what we want here: non stop action, speed, monsters, blood and big f*cking guns.
